Yves finally won the duel by less than one second (0.361 s). Eric, Bob and André had issues with their machinery because of the heat and were forced to forfeit.

News from the 22ndof october

After a good night's rest and a violent storm, pilots are back at 7:45 am to get ready for the first qualifying race. More and more people arrive and finally everyone is ready to start.

H minus 11 mn, one of the organisers announces the beginning of the try-outs. Jean Dondaine is already on the standing start while others finish putting on their suits. Pilots and their motorcyles exit one after the other, ready to get on the track for the first qualifying race, ready to make the better time to get the first place. Still, as traces of last night's storm are still visible all around, pilots know they have to be cautious.

9 h 30, here we go, pilots launch their motorcyles on the track and start to get the laps in.

No fall, only one false start (Eric Saul, leaking fuel pipe); Serge Guillermin's motorcycle has lost part of its exhaust hose and Roy Flower's has got a broken crankshaft. Yves Hecq is the first to finish.

Times are 10 to 20 seconds better in the second session. The order stays the same except for André Gouin who temporarily takes the first place in front of Stefan Tennstadt. Whether on 250 cm3 or 350 cm3, pilots have all gone under 2 mn.

News from the 21stof october

A day of mechanics. Pilots have two free try-outs sessions to get a first contact with the track. They keep the timer at the back of their heads, assessing each other and what they'd have to do to make it to the podium.

Bad news for Bernard Tabarly of Happy Team who suffers a heavy fall when his engine seizes. After an impressive tumble and a short black-out, Bernard's physical state forces him to stop. He is taken to Goiänia's hospital and returns a few hours later with a broken clavicle, a broken finger, a sore knee and a sling around his arm. Although he's a bit stunned, he keeps his sense of humour and willingly laughs about his situation.

The day is spent without any other incident. Everyone is focused on tomorrow's qualifying race.
